A rule of thumb: one 9 m LED tower covers roughly 3,000–5,000 m² at usable working light. For general construction that means about one tower per 4,000 m²; for detailed work, inspection, or anything needing higher lux, plan closer to one per 2,000 m². LED towers burn far less fuel and run 100–300 hours on a tank versus roughly 50–70 hours for metal halide, so on any rental longer than a couple of weeks the fuel and refuelling-trip saving usually outweighs the higher day rate. LED also strikes instantly and restrikes after a power cut, while metal halide needs several minutes to cool and restart. Metal halide still makes sense for short jobs where the day rate dominates.

Metal halide towers typically run 50–70 hours per tank; LED towers typically run 100–300 hours depending on lamp wattage and tank size. On a 12-hour night shift that is roughly 4–6 nights for metal halide and up to several weeks for a large-tank LED unit. Solar and hybrid units need no refuelling at all in normal duty. Confirm the exact tank size and consumption with the owner before booking.

Light towers are trailer-mounted and move on a normal flatbed, so they are among the fastest units to mobilise. For major cities (Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam) allow roughly a day; remote sites and NEOM need longer for transport. Delivery, positioning and the towing arrangement are confirmed in the owner's quote.

Diesel light towers typically run 60–70 dB(A) at 7 metres, which is often too loud for night work next to housing. For those sites, solar and hybrid towers run silently with no exhaust and are the usual answer for urban Riyadh and Jeddah night works, hospital grounds and residential-adjacent projects. Balloon towers additionally remove glare where light spill onto homes or traffic is the concern.
